Itinerant musicians and songwriters THE NELSON BROTHERS travel the world playing gigs and writing songs; from the Midlands to the Isle of Dogs; the Arizona desert to Sydney, Australia ; Amsterdam to Bermuda.

The debut album 'Hometown' (Round Tower Records) was released in 1994. The Nelson Brothers song 'Stranger To My Heart' featured in the film 'The Innocent Sleep'

From 2000 - 2004 The Nelson Brothers, signed to Los Angeles publisher Windswept Pacific, divided their time between Tucson, Arizona and Nashville, Tennessee writing songs for the 'market place'.
They have now returned to their real love of writing songs for themselves and are due to release a new collection in November 2009: 'Places in the Heart'

“There are a host of good songs... the superb, Brel-tinged Song of Frankenstein, the soulful Walking My Baby Back Home, and the swing of Shake the Monkey. An impressive record which takes roots music off in a new direction.” Nick Dalton, Maverick. September 2009

“This is very much a rocking band who play a finely structured, semi-acoustic kind of rootsy pop... The Nelson Brothers create the bubbling soundscape along with Goldfrapp drummer Rowan Oliver. Simon Nelson’s electric guitar adds a stylish, spiky edge throughout the set.” Nick Dalton. Maverick.

“I really love it and couldn't stop listening once I started. The music and the voice and the lyrics all work together to convey a bittersweet, sad optimism that I find so appealing... Romantic without being remotely saccharine and refreshingly grown up.” Oscar nominated Hollywood actress Elizabeth McGovern.

“Steve Nelson is a great vocalist, brother Simon a talented multi instrumentalist, both brothers are tremendous songwriters.”

“Songs like STRANGER TO MY HEART and HOMETOWN have a gritty reality about them.” Sidetracks

“moody musical atmospheres... match the weary romanticism of the lyrics... ” Birmingham Post.

“I like the new ‘leonard sinatra’ thing you're doing.” R. J. Jones. Windswept Pacific.
